Bare Island is one of the most popular diving spots in Sydney. Around the island and the mainland near the bridge there are great diving and snorkelling opportunities, with lots of sea life and vegetation to be seen. Although great for snorkelling, this is really better seen diving as some of the best life is in deeper water. Like Shelly Beach, this is a popular spot for people learning to SCUBA dive. Watch out for people fishing, and for jet skis and small craft if you’re near the bridge.
How to get there:
Bare Island is accessible via a footbridge that connects the island to the suburb of La Perouse. The path to the footbridge starts from Anzac Parade.
Bus: Buses 324 and 325 from Circular Quay run close to the island. The closest bus stop is the Anzac Parade Terminus.
Car: It is probably easier to drive to Bare Island. To get there head from the city onto Anzac Road, and follow it down to La Perouse.
