The Basin Picnic and Camping Ground
The Basin offers a unique camping opportunity with only boat or hiking access to the camp ground. Located on the foreshore of Pittwater and only an hours drive north of Sydney, The Basin is one of Sydney’s camping hot spots for summer with ample swimming and shaded areas to escape the heat. Only a 15 minute ferry ride from Palm Beach Wharf, this secluded paradise offers hiking, fishing, swimming, Aboriginal engravings and a lot more.

How to get there:
Car: From the city, head north over the bridge or through the tunnel, taking the exit to Mosman and Manly. Follow Military Road and Spit Road, and keep heading north through Dee Why, and up towards the suburb of Palm Beach. The ferry departs from Palm Beach Wharf.
Bus: The express L90 departs from Wynyard and stops at Palm Beach.
Bookings are essential. Very popular during summer so book early.
