Balmoral Beach is one of the gems of Sydney Harbour. It is a sheltered beach, with only gentle waves on most days. It is a favourite for many Sydneysiders, particularly those with young families. On a clear sunny day you can sit back and relax, watch the Manly ferries, sailboats and kayaks go past, do laps of the beach, or dine in one of the cafes or the Bathers Pavilion. All within 20 minutes bus ride of the city. For the active, the beach offers lots of activities, such as stand-up paddling, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing and boating. All of these can be hired.
How to get there:
Bus: Buses to Mosman depart from Carrington St. behind Wynyard Station. There are buses to Balmoral Beach itself, and also to Military Road, and Spit Junction from which you’ll need to walk down to the beach. Buses to Mosman also depart from North Sydney, and Chatswood.
Car: Head north over the bridge or through the tunnel, and follow the signs to Mosman. Before Spit Junction, turn left onto Cowles Road, and then right onto Awaba Street. Follow this all the way to the beach.
